The following story was
to one of our fleet managers and dispatchers, it is a heartfelt
letter from James Almeida and we wanted to make sure others
have the opportunity to see the importance of family and what
it means for "America's hardest working men and women"
to get home when they need it most.
"Dear Susan (Dunham),
This is not a letter, but a
thank you to you and Steve (Mashburn). I got to see my mother
who is bedridden and paralyzed, and also cannot speak. My
brothers told me she doesn't recognize anybody, so don't get
upset when she looks puzzled trying to figure out who you
are. When I walked to her bed she went hysterical, my brothers
couldn't believe it, and she recognized me right away. I watched
her cry as I held her hand. It was the medicine she needed
as little as I get to see her. I am very close to her, and
it helped me to be able to see her also. She hasn't got much
time left in this world; she's down to 95 pounds and failing
each day. I thank you and Steve for looking out for my welfare
and making it possible for me to kiss her on the cheek and
say, I love you Mom'. She cried because my two brothers never
make the effort to express themselves to her in that way.
I'm ready to continue my running now, I needed this. Thanks
again to you and Steve from the bottom of my heart.
Jim, 3226

| Chefs Wanted |
Driver Services has come up
with a wonderful idea to involve all employees and their families
in putting together a "Stevens Family Cookbook".
For this project to be successful
we need every family to participate and send in their favorite
recipes. We would like adults and children to use their creative
minds and help us come up with a title and cover idea. We will
give recognition in the Cookbook, to the winner for the cover
picture and title idea we use.
Any profit made from the sales
of the Cookbook will be given to the Driver Emergency Assist
Fund.
So, everyone please get recipes
and your families creative ideas together and get them to us,
ASAP, so we can get this together.
What we need...
Employee and immediate family
names (and CB handle)
Category of the recipe, detail
cooking instructions and ingredients.
Send recipes to...
