Helpful Hints from the Driver Payroll Department

      1. Bill of Ladings are an important part of your trip information, make sure they are signed and all stops and pick ups are turned in with your trip packet.

      2. We are NOT a member of TRIP PAC EXPRESS (yellow box). Your payroll will be delayed getting to Stevens if you place your envelopes in the yellow boxes.

      3. One Trip Per Trip Sheet - if you repower a load, that is considered a new trip.

      4. Only ONE trip per envelope.

Driver's Emergency Fund
ATTENTION DRIVERS: Are you a member? Do you know what and whom the fund is for?

The Driver's Emergency Fund was started about five years ago by the drivers and for the drivers of Stevens Transport. The fund was established to help drivers in the event of a serious emergency - death in the family, serious illness, not able to work due to injury or illnes s - to name a few. The fund is there to assist those who may not have the money to purchase an expensive airplane ticket if they are needed at home or somewhere else due to a death or illness. This is just an example of what the fund can be used for. It is NOT used to help a driver out of a financial bind because of personal bills, etc. The Fund has been able to help several drivers in their time of need. Membership is voluntary, if you are not a member and would like to be one, you can pick up a Membership Form from Central Clearance, the Owner Operator dispatch office or from Melody Cano. Contribution is $1.00 per week deducted from your pay. Membership is for any driver on the Regular Fleets, Owner/Operator Fleet and Alliance Fleet.

*Note: if you went from the Regular Fleet to the O/O or Alliance Fleet and were a member on the Regular Fleet, your membership may not have carried over, please contact Melody Cano for questions. In office assistants for the Driver Emergency Fund are Melody Cano x 385 and Diane Powers x 123.
Safety Workshops
Throughout the year the Safety department conducts on-going Safety workshops to better prepare our drivers for the upcoming road hazards, depending on the time of year. These workshops are conducted weekly so please check the sign outside of the safety office for scheduling time and classes. Check with anyone in the Safety and Training Departments for the correct locations.

Current Workshops:

      • Ethics and Technique - Classes are held three times a week on Mondays at 1000, Tuesdays at 0800 and Thursdays at 0800. These classes are here to benefit you and save you money by helping you do your jobs in a more effective and safe manner.

OS&D - Classes are held twice a day in the downstairs workshop classroom.

      • Spring Workshop - Classes are twice daily.
Stevens Transport Guard Entrance
Notice anything different at the truck exit gate? Of course! It's the new "barrier arm" to prevent traffic from exiting without stopping to check out with the Service Guard. This allows us to correctly and timely record all equipment that leaves the yard to assist in equipment management, maintenance and security. We are currently also studying a video recording system at this location to add strength to our security procedures. Also, please note that all trailers leaving the yard will be required to have between 1/2 and a full tank of reefer fuel. All trucks will also be required to have the same levels unless a note on your gate pass states that you have a heavy load.
Rick Goodman Dispatch Profile

Rick "Goody" Goodman became the California Dispatcher at Stevens Transport when he relocated to Dallas from California. Originally from Ind- iana, Goody's family moved to the Los Angeles area when he was young. Shortly after graduating from California University at North Ridge, Goody opened his own business restoring antique cars. His start in the Transportation Industry was purely by accident Ð while restoring several cars for a client who happened to own a small brokerage firm, he was invited to fill a void to assist the client in keeping his business open. From there, Goody went on to work for A.T.P., a refrigerated company based in Los Angeles, for several years. He had an opportunity to be part of a start up

company called Hawkins Transport hauling Organic Produce and after much success, the company was sold to Whole Foods Market. Rather than relocate to Massachusetts with the new company, Goody set his sights on Texas. He and his wife, Dana, made plans to attend the World Championship Cutting Horse Futurity held in Fort Worth in December of 1998. While surfing the web,
Goody landed on Stevens Transport's website and during his visit, also interviewed for a position at Stevens. Goody enjoys working for Stevens; it's fast-paced and challenging. He sites Smokey Adams as a positive force in operations and enjoyable to work for. Goody enjoys the daily contact with the Stevens Drivers and our large customer base in the southwest. He looks forward to continued success here at Stevens Transport.
