| Theodore Wiggins |
When Theo Wiggins came to Stevens Transport in March of 1984,
he brought with him the motivation, attitude and loyalty to
become one of the company's best employees. After 16 years and
over four million miles, his thoughts are that Stevens Transport
has been supportive of his personal and career issues from the
beginning, and he is very thankful.
He was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. After he returned
home from Vietnam in 1967, he was clearly in search of a new
career. By 1974, trucking had become his primary interest, he
started out as an owner operator and things went well.
In 1980, he moved from Trenton to Dallas and was still doing
well as an owner operator. Around 1984 he became familiar with
the outstanding equipment status of Stevens Transport. It was
then that Theo made his decision to sell his truck and come
to work for Stevens Transport.
When he came aboard in 1984 our approximate number of trucks
in service was between 60 and 65. He has been a part of Stevens
Transport's growth and success from the beginning. Commitment
and dedication are just a few things Theo is being recognized
for: quality of service and training, on time pick up and delivery,
and much more.
Through the years drivers have always had a nickname, or what
is called a handle. Shake Shake, Theo's handle, has been echoed
around Stevens for many years. Theo says this name arose from
him always being ready to move, and if you know Shake Shake
then you know he's always on the go. Some of his hobbies are
fishing, sports, and traveling. Theo says trucking is not just
a job for him anymore, it's his number one hobby.
Stevens Transport continues to be a positive spotlight and a
very reputable company in the trucking industry, and would like
to continue to share that light with Theo Wiggins and others
like him. |

Danny Deese |
 |
Danny and Sylvia Deese
began their lease with Stevens Transport on August 8, 1997.
After 8 years of service with Goodway Transport, and five
months with Rocor, the Deese's made a move to Stevens. They
alone have the honor of being the very first independent contractor
to lease to Stevens Transport in several years. They started
with a 1997 International, and have since traded that in for
a 1999 model.
It
began in 1982 when Danny laid down his construction tools
and persuaded Sylvia to do something he had dreamed about
forever, attend truck-driving school. Immediately after graduation,
they purchased their first truck and leased to B & P Motor
Lines, Forest City, North Carolina. With some experience under
their belt, they decided operating with their own authority
might be the way to go and they left B & P to strike out on
their own. One stolen trailer later, they decided to sell
the tractor and re-join the company fleet of B & P. Inevitably,
they ended up at Goodway, and now Stevens. For the last four
years they primarily hauled Fresh America back and forth across
the country, currently Danny runs all freight lanes and Sylvia
is relaxing at home.
Danny and Sylvia have lived in Punta Gorda, Florida for the
last fourteen years. They are the proud parents of six children,
residing in Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida along with fifteen
grandchildren and one great-grandson. On June 11th they will
celebrate thirty years of marriage. While on time off, they
enjoy spending time with their children, grandchildren, and
friends, fishing and playing bingo.
According to Danny, they are just plain old everyday hard
working people, but we at Stevens appreciate them for that
and much more.
