| Lansing Pope |
 |
Lansing Pope was hired at Stevens Transport on August 4, 1999 and
graduated to solo driver on October 11, 1999. Lansing is recognized
for his positive attitude, willingness to work and general style.
He is always ready to run and has a good reputation with the dispatch
department. He chose Stevens Transport for his driving career primarily
due to the "good looking" equipment and the name that Stevens has
made for itself in the industry.
After retiring from Carter-Miot Engineering in Columbia, SC, Lansing
followed his life long dream of becoming an over the road driver.
He enjoys meeting new people and the opportunity to travel inexpensively.
He has been able to see his son and new grandbaby in California,
and also visit another son in Wisconsin and still see his grandson
in South Carolina.
Lansing has been able to assist four-wheelers on the road and always
takes the time to lend an ear to other drivers. He offers advice
to students to pay attention in orientation because the knowledge
you gain in class will be put to use daily. "Trip planning, weather
watching, and perfecting skills on a regular basis will only be
to your benefit. Make sure you know your limits and never drive
beyond them." Good solid advice from an individual with many admirable
qualities.

"Tumbleweed" Brown |
Jim Brown started with Stevens Transport in 1989. He's been driving
a truck for about 24 years now. This has earned him a place on our
"Haul of Fame" plaque logging over 3 million miles of driving! Jim
has numerous recognitions since being here at Stevens Transport. His
most recent was being voted Trainer of the Year for 1999! He is known
throughout the company by everyone as an outstanding driver and trainer.
He is very well respected in the industry.
Jim loves driving a truck and training studentsÐhe takes both very
seriously. He states, "I give my students everything I have." His
expertise in driving is passed on to his students. He continues to
stay in touch with each of them after their training. He even gives
them his home telephone number should they have any questions or problems.
Jim is originally from Missouri, but has made Mesquite, Texas his
home with his wife Linda since 1991. Linda is very supportive of her
husband's career. Jim says it's through her support that he is the
successful driver and trainer that he has become. You can always find
Linda by his side whenever he's on the yard.
Without a doubt, his performance as a Stevens Transport driver and
trainer reflects his professional competence, dedication to his job,
and unselfish devotion to the trucking industry. Stevens Transport
is very proud to have Jim Brown on their fleet.
