Driver Discovers Fresh Start With Trucking Career
Lee Cranford was looking for a career change after spending over 20 years in the machine industry as a Quality Control Specialist. Lee wanted the ability to travel the country in his new career, and after researching the transportation industry, he knew it would be a perfect fresh start.
Lee recalled that he chose to join the Stevens family because of the superb training that they offer their students. “I loved how I was able to receive CDL training so close to my house in Houston. I attended Lone Star College and made lasting memories with my classmates and instructors.”
After graduating with his CDL in October of 2018, Lee traveled to Stevens Transport headquarters in Dallas, TX to attend new driver orientation and complete on-the-job, over-the-road training with his driver trainers. “My trainers were amazing. They taught me so much about Stevens and the industry and even helped me learn about the different opportunities that Stevens offers their drivers.”
After Lee graduated with his CDL, he decided to take advantage of those opportunities by opening his own independent business with the assistance of Stevens’ Independent Contractor Division. “It was challenging at first, but with the support of everyone from the Independent Contractor Division and with the knowledge I gained from my trainers, I was able to become successful!”
Lee’s Driver Manager, Aldo Rodriguez, commended his driver for all of his success. “Lee is a very knowledgeable driver who has always been very accurate with his trip plans. His positive attitude is very infectious and I am very happy to have him on my fleet.”
Lee has since traveled all over the country and has even found some of his new favorite spots. “I really enjoy finding new places to explore in this country. I enjoy spending time on the West Coast and the South because there is more parking and it provides a more comfortable driving experience.”
Lee also offered some sound advice for our new drivers entering the industry. “Do not be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t, you will have to learn it later down the line. Everyone here is very supportive, and they will always do everything in their power to help answer your questions.”
When Lee is not out on the road delivering loads, you can find him spending time outdoors enjoying various activities and relaxing.
