Yovanne Almonte recently won 3rd place for Stevens 2016 Driver of the Year. He joined Stevens after graduating from Road Master.
Yovanne got in to trucking because his father was a driver in Dominican Replublic. He is proud to be a trucker because it is a profession and not just an unskilled job. The training he received at the Stevens CDL Driving School was such that he has no apprehension about driving in any situation. His confidence in Stevens as a company is just as solid.
He loves seeing the country and being in a different part of the U.S. every day. “There is nothing I don’t like about trucking.” Says Yovanne. There are challenges, such as eating healthy. He suggests not going to fast food restaurants, but buying fresh food to prepare in the truck. Yovanne also advises new drivers to pay attention at all times as well as take breaks when needed.
Yovanne has a proud family at home supporting him. He gets home every three weeks to see his wife and daughter in Tampa, Florida. He spends his time off watching movies with his family. He feels that family is the most important priority in life.
He plans on becoming a Stevens Owner Operator by purchasing his own truck. He wouldn’t think of driving for anyone else. Yovanne is adamant that Stevens is the best. He says, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to drive for the best company in the U.S.”
