Cem “Gem” Ersoy

1st Place Company Driver of the Month

Image of Cem ErsoyCongratulations to Cem Ersoy, our Company Driver of the Month! Cem joined Stevens Transport in December 2022 after completing his CDL training at Stevens Driving Academy. His decision to join Stevens Transport was driven by the company’s strong reputation and commitment to both its employees and the overall success of the organization.

In December, Cem drove an impressive total of 11,730 miles! He credits his achievements to the outstanding support he receives from the entire Stevens Transport team, from the Operations team to management and leadership, he is grateful for the guidance that has been vital to his success. Outside of work, Cem enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Steven Hoy

Runner Up Company Driver of the Month

Congratulations to Steven Hoy, our Company Driver of the Month Runner-Up! Steven started his career with Stevens Transport in June 2024 and earned his CDL with Stevens Driving Academy. In December, Steven covered an impressive 11,316 miles! He attributes his success to being adaptable to situations, staying aware, and being efficient. He also emphasizes the importance of staying focused and knowing your strengths.

Steven highly recommends Stevens Driving Academy, noting that their training program was one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences in all of his careers. He highlights the value of safety features like weather alerts and the Netradyne camera system, as crucial tools for driver security, personally and on the road. His most memorable experience has been working with and learning from Tyricko Duckett, an instructor who has had a significant impact on his growth. “Tyricko is an excellent teacher. The turning technique he shared with me was invaluable,” says Steven. For Steven, the best part of being a driver is the opportunity to explore new places and see different sights while traveling across the country. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, fishing, and his passion for cooking—particularly making homemade Alfredo sauce from scratch.

Kelvin “KJ” Johnson

1st Place Independent Contractor of the Month

Please join us in congratulating our Independent Contractor of the Month, Kelvin “KJ” Johnson! KJ earned his CDL from Houston Community College and has been a valued member of Stevens Transport since October 1997. In December, he logged an impressive 11,578 miles and maintained a perfect service record!

KJ’s path to the transportation industry was influenced by his father and brother, both professional drivers. After a four-year career as a police officer, he decided to follow the family path and pursue transportation. He attributes his success to hard work, continuous learning, and a commitment to professional growth. He advises new drivers to take their time, learn the business thoroughly, and focus on doing something they love. “If you’re not learning something new every day in this field, then you’re not advancing,” believes KJ. His most memorable experience at Stevens has been witnessing the company’s growth, noting the respect and dignity drivers receive. He particularly values the company’s open-door policy. Outside of work, Kelvin enjoys traveling, staying fit through regular exercise, and cherishing time with his family.

Kyle Allen

Runner-Up Independent Contractor of the Month

Image of Kyle AllenCongratulations to Kyle Allen, our Independent Contractor of the Month Runner-Up! Kyle joined Stevens Transport in August 2023 after earning his CDL from Stevens Driving Academy. In December, he covered an impressive 9,466 miles, contributing to this well-deserved recognition.

A longtime resident of Arlington, Texas, Kyle was drawn to Stevens Transport after years of seeing the company’s trucks on the road. His driving skills are characterized by his strong commitment to safety, following the trip planning details, and always staying aware of his surroundings. Kyle advises new drivers to focus on staying dedicated and continuing learning, highlighting the ongoing demand for skilled professionals in the industry. One of Kyle’s most memorable moments at Stevens was driving out of the gates with his first solo load and knowing he made a great career decision. Outside of work, Kyle enjoys bass fishing and disc golf, two of his favorite pastimes.

Yan Soe

1st Place Grad Driver of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Yan Soe, our December New Driver of the Month! Yan joined Stevens Transport in September 2024 after earning his CDL from Route Ready in Colorado. In December, he achieved an impressive 12,352 miles and attributes some of his success to his love of learning. Since receiving his CDL, he has enjoyed learning about the industry, being a professional driver, and noting tips along the way, to help him be efficient and maximize miles. As he works daily to improve and hone his skills, his advice to new drivers is to stay committed and persistent.

One of Yan’s favorite aspects of being a driver has been meeting diverse people, making new friends, and enjoying time with them. One of the things he appreciates the most about Stevens Transport is the consistent availability of loads—when he completes one, he is sure to be ready to go with another. His favorite part of being a driver is the opportunity to travel to any state. Outside of work, Yan enjoys hiking and camping.

Daniel Bruce

Runner-Up Grad Driver of The Month

Please join us in congratulating Daniel Bruce, our December New Driver of the Month Runner-Up! Daniel earned his CDL from Stevens Driving Academy and joined the Contractor Division with Stevens Transport in October 2024. In December, he drove an impressive 10,285 miles! Daniel came to Stevens Transport after a career change, having previously worked in retail management for a large box chain.

Encouraged by his wife, he researched transportation companies and chose Stevens Transport for the many opportunities available. He attributes his success to persistence, staying focused, and pushing forward without letting distractions get in the way. Daniel’s favorite aspect of being a driver is the freedom it provides, the autonomy of the open road, and the ability to embrace new adventures. He also values the opportunity to earn while doing something he enjoys. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys playing video games with his friends.

Aqutavia Hillsman & Roderick Butler

1st Place Team of the Month

Please join us in congratulating our Team Drivers of the Month, Aqutavia Hillsman and Roderick Butler! Aqutavia began her career at Stevens Transport in February 2023 after receiving her CDL from Stevens Driving Academy, while Roderick started in April 2024 after graduating from Georgia Driving Academy. Together, they achieved an impressive 12,482 miles in December, ranking among the top teams in the company!

Aqutavia and Roderick were drawn to Stevens Transport as part of their journey into the trucking industry, and believe was guided by a higher power. They attribute their success to their strong faith, saying, “Wherever God leads, we go.” They encourage new drivers to ensure becoming a professional driver is the right career for them, as it is a lifestyle that requires adjustment and commitment. Aqutavia emphasizes the importance of trip planning, while Roderick stresses the value of patience, staying aware of your surroundings, and maintaining professionalism at all times. Aqutavia appreciates Stevens Transport’s strong support system for drivers, noting that there is always someone available to help and Roderick values the company’s commitment to safety and its ability to allow drivers to provide for their families while advancing their careers. Outside of work, Aqutavia enjoys fishing, reading, and expanding her knowledge, while Roderick is passionate about sports—particularly basketball, football, and baseball—and following his faith.

Kirk Smith

Owner-Operator of the Month

We are pleased to congratulate Kirk Smith, our December Owner-Operator of the Month! Kirk has been a valued member of the Stevens Transport team since June 2005, after graduating with his CDL from Stevens Driving Academy. In December, he drove an impressive 13,863 miles, securing his place among the top Owner-Operators.

Kirk was inspired to pursue a career in trucking by his father, Owen Smith, who has been a longtime driver with Stevens. Over his 20-year career, Kirk also spent 10 years as a driver trainer. He attributes much of his success to his father, saying, “I’ve always wanted to follow in his footsteps. He’s one of the most successful drivers at Stevens, and I strive to be like him.”

Kirk’s advice for new drivers is to truly embrace the profession and have a passion for being behind the wheel. He believes that success in trucking requires patience and the right mindset. For Kirk, the best part about Stevens Transport is the sense of support—he appreciates that he can reach out to anyone at Stevens for assistance when needed. The breathtaking sunrise while driving down a mountain in Phoenix, Arizona, and the freedom of the open road are some of Kirk’s favorite aspects of being a professional truck driver. When not on the road, he enjoys installing car audio sound systems and is an avid music lover.

Gerald Rhoden

Trainer of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Gerald Rhoden, our Trainer of the Month! Gerald has been an esteemed member of the Stevens Transport team since November 1998 and also a graduate of Stevens Driving Academy. As a dedicated driver trainer, Gerald achieved an impressive 17,690 miles in December! Over the course of his career, Gerald has trained nearly 200 new drivers and logged over 4,690,041 miles, highlighting his commitment to excellence in both driving and mentoring others!

This four time recognized Haul of Fame member, is known for his determination, combined with a passion for success and helping others, has made him one of the top trainers in Stevens Transport’s history. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gerald is a devoted father, husband, and friend who treats everyone around him like family. His influence extends well beyond the road, having helped countless new drivers build successful careers at Stevens Transport. Outside of work, Gerald enjoys traveling and time with family.

Ghiyath “Gus” Haiek

Runner Up Trainer of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Ghiyath “Gus” Haiek, our Trainer of the Month Runner-Up! For 19 years, Gus has been an integral member of the Stevens Transport team, after graduating from United States Truck Driving School and in December, an impressive 16,373 miles was logged!

This three-million-mile member of our Haul of Fame, Gus ranks among our most skilled drivers in the industry. Throughout his nearly two decade-long career as a driver trainer, he has successfully mentored over 200 students, helping them transition into confident, independent drivers. He encourages his trainees to continue learning about the industry, driving, and even your truck! Prior to transportation, Gus was an attorney in his home country of Siria. Upon coming to the US, he started in construction but notes if he could do it again, he would have started in transportation. Outside of work, Gus enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his family.

Roberto Santana

1st Place Dedicated Driver of the Month

We are pleased to congratulate Roberto Santana, our Dedicated Driver of the Month! Roberto has been an invaluable member of the Stevens Transport team since November 2008, after earning his CDL from Roadmaster in Orlando, Florida. In April 2009, he transitioned to the Contractor Division. In December, he achieved an impressive 13,416 miles and has continued to demonstrate excellence in his driving career.

Roberto is known for being a committed professional in the the industry. He is highly regarded for his dedication to being a professional driver and was recently recognized for his remarkable milestone of two million miles, his second recognition in the Stevens Transport Haul of Fame! Roberto is grateful to be part of the Stevens team and is honored by this recognition, which reflects his dedication and skill as a driver.

Robert “Bob” Velme

Runner Up Dedicated Driver of the Month

We are proud to recognize Robert “Bob” Velme as our Dedicated Driver of the Month Runner-Up! Bob joined Stevens Transport in May 2008 after earning his CDL from Lonestar College (fka Houston Community College). In December, he drove an impressive 13,005 miles, showcasing his commitment and professionalism. Bob is a two-million-miler in our Haul of Fame and also served as a Driver Trainer for seven years, during which he mentored around 20 drivers. He attributes his success to the many opportunities the company offers to excel.

One of Bob’s most memorable moments at Stevens Transport was reaching his first million miles. Now a two-million-miler, he commented he was so surprised, he double-checked his mileage to confirm the milestone. Bob is appreciative of the recognition and the support of Robert Solimani and the team. Bob advises new drivers to always prioritize safety, do things properly, and never hesitate to ask for help. He also encourages everyone to seek guidance for success. His favorite part of being a driver is the ever-changing scenery from his “office window,” appreciating the vastness and beauty of the country. Outside of work, Bob enjoys reading, motorcycle riding, and many outdoor activities.
