David & Rita are Stevens 2016 Team of the Year award winners. They have been one of the most successful team drivers at Stevens and don’t plan on slowing down any time soon.
Dave decided to start driving when the economy crashed and he couldn’t find work in construction. In 2010, he went to United States Truck Driver Training School in Detroit to get his CDL. He says he joined Stevens in 2014 from a recommendation the school made as well as the information he received from the Stevens recruiter. The fact that Sevens has paid training was also a deciding factor.
They have loved working with Stevens and will never drive for anyone else. “Stevens works hard with the drivers to make sure they have what they need to succeed. Angela worked her magic to make a dedicated coast-to-coast route for us,” says Rita.
A couple of years ago, Rita decided to go through Stevens CDL School. Since they were empty nesters, she would rather drive with her husband and make more money instead of staying home alone. They are now grossing $325,000 annually and take home six figures as a team.
They enjoy getting to see various parts of the country such as the Grand Canyon. But when not driving, Dave likes woodworking and farming. Of course, they both love spending time with the grandkids. They have two children and two grandchildren and live in Birch, MI.
